1tablespoonwater
1tablespoonlemon juice
3tablespoonscaster sugar
Instructions
Peel, core and cut the apples into quarters (or small pieces if they are large). Place them in the Thermomix bowl and chop for 5 sec/speed 4. Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl with a spatula.
Add the water, lemon juice and caster sugar. Cook for 15 min/90°C/reverse/speed 1.
Blend for 5 sec/speed 4 for a chunky sauce, or blend a little longer for a smooth purée-style sauce.
Notes
Apple sauce consistency: If the apple sauce appears a bit watery after cooking, strain it over a bowl using the simmering basket as a strainer. Then return the sauce to the Thermomix and blend to your desired consistency.Apples: Granny Smith apples are ideal, but you could also use a sweeter variety like Royal Gala or Red Delicious. If using sweeter apples, omit or reduce the caster sugar - you can always add it at the end of cooking if you prefer a sweeter sauce.Storage: Apple sauce can be stored in an airtight container or jar in the fridge for 7-10 days. Allow it to cool completely before storing. To freeze: Apple sauce can also be frozen for up to three months. Transfer to a freezer-safe container, leaving a little space for expansion, then thaw overnight in the fridge before using.
