Why You'll Love It
- Ready in less than a minute.
- More affordable than store-bought icing sugar.
Step-by-Step Directions

- Add the white sugar to the Thermomix bowl.

- Mill for 20 seconds on speed 10. Wait for a few seconds for the icing sugar to settle. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula. Mill again for 30 seconds on speed 10.
Expert Tips
- Ensure the bowl and blades are completely dry before blending - any moisture will cause clumping.
- Let the dust settle for a few seconds before opening the lid to avoid a sugar cloud.
- Blend up to 250g at a time for the smoothest results.
- Homemade icing sugar may not be quite as fine as shop-bought soft icing sugar. For a finer result, mill for a little longer and sift before using.
- Place a sheet of paper towel loosely over the lid before milling to help contain any fine sugar dust.
Storage
Store the icing sugar in an airtight container. Sift for lumps before using.

Sunshine says
Hi, I tried this and it looked just like icing sugar but when I made icing the taste/texture was still granulated and didn’t taste the same.
Would you have any tips please?
Vicki says
Hi Sarah, apologies for the late response. You could try grinding it for a little longer. I find that homemade icing sugar is never quite the same texture as soft icing sugar from the supermarket. Kind regards Vicki.

I heard a trick a while back about putting paper towel over the top of the bowl to prevent the cloud of icing, it worked a treat!

Thank you for sharing Allana - will try it next time! Vicki.
