This kecap manis takes just 10 minutes and 2 pantry ingredients: soy sauce and brown sugar. The Thermomix heats them together into a thick, glossy sauce that's ready to use in stir-fries, marinades and nasi goreng.

I made this recipe halfway through cooking, when I realised I had none in the pantry. It's quick enough to make on the spot, and you know exactly what's in it, with none of the long list of additives on many store-bought bottles.
Another easy homemade sauce for stir-fries is my Thermomix teriyaki sauce.
Here's a Look at the Ingredients

Note: The exact quantities are shown in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Soy sauce - use a regular soy sauce. If you need a gluten-free version, tamari works as a substitute, but check the label to make sure it's gluten-free.
- Brown sugar - gives the sauce its sweetness and helps it thicken into that glossy, syrupy consistency.
Kecap Manis Tips
- There's no need to use the simmering basket or splatter guard unless you're making a larger quantity.
- The sauce will thicken as it cools - don't worry if it looks thin when it comes out of the Thermomix bowl.
