A simple way to cook boiled eggs is in the Thermomix. The cooking time will vary according to the size of the eggs and whether you like your eggs soft or hard-boiled.
For this recipe, I used extra-large eggs weighing approximately 60g each.

Another way to cook eggs in the Thermomix is to poach them. I also have a how-to guide for poaching eggs in the Thermomix.
Why You'll Love This Method
- Hands-free: Gives you time to organise the plates and pop the toast on without watching over a saucepan of bubbling water.
- It's accurate: Once you cook an egg to your liking, note the size and time for next time.
Step-by-Step Directions

- Add 500g of cold water to the Thermomix bowl. Insert the simmering basket and place the fridge-cold eggs inside.

- Cook on Varoma/speed 1 for the time shown below.
Thermomix Boiled Egg Cooking Times
Follow the cooking times below based on your egg size and how you like your eggs.
Add 500g of cold water to the Thermomix bowl, place the eggs in the simmering basket, and cook on Varoma/speed 1 for the time shown.
Note: These timings are based on eggs straight from the fridge and using cold water.
| Egg Size | Soft-Boiled | Hard-Boiled |
| Small | 8-9 mins | 12-13 mins |
| Medium | 8-9 mins | 12-13 mins |
| Large | 10-11 mins | 14-15 mins |
| Extra Large (X-large) | 10-11 mins | 14-15 mins |
Top Tip
One easy way to peel boiled eggs is to rub a little butter onto the shell, which can help it slip off more easily.
Storage
You can store hard-boiled eggs in the fridge for up to a week. It's best to store them in their shells to prevent odours from the fridge being absorbed into the eggs.
