A simple way to cook boiled eggs is in the Thermomix. The cooking time will vary according to the size of the eggs and whether you like your eggs soft or hard-boiled.
For this recipe, I used X-large eggs weighing approximately 60-65g each.
Another way to cook eggs in the Thermomix is to poach them. My recipe for Poached Eggs in the Thermomix is here.

Why You'll Love This Method
- Hands-free: Gives you time to organise the plates and pop the toast on without watching over a saucepan of bubbling water.
- It's accurate: Once you cook one egg to your liking, you can jot down the size of the egg and the time it took to cook for next time.
Step by Step Directions
- Add the fridge-cold eggs to the simmering basket and add 500g cold water to the Thermomix bowl.
- For soft-boiled (runny) X-large eggs, cook for 11 mins/Varoma/Speed 1. See notes below on other timings.
Cooking Hard-Boiled Eggs in the Thermomix
Cooking hard-boiled eggs in the Thermomix takes 14-15 minutes for large and X-large eggs and a minute or two less for small and medium eggs. Place 500g of cold water in the Thermomix bowl and set it to Varoma speed 1.
Cooking Soft-Boiled Eggs in the Thermomix
For soft-boiled eggs, which are runny enough to dip a soldier in, the time is approximately 10-11 minutes for a large and X-large egg and a minute or two less for smaller eggs.
Top Tip
There are many hacks for peeling eggshells. One great one is using a little butter, which helps them slip off easily.
Storage
You can store hard-boiled eggs in the fridge for up to a week. It's better to store them in their shells to prevent any odours from the refrigerator from absorbing into the eggs.

Boiled Eggs in the Thermomix
Enjoy boiled eggs that have been cooked hands-free in the Thermomix.
Ingredients
- 500g cold water
- 4 X-large eggs, fridge cold, weight approximately 60g each
Instructions
- Add 500g cold tap water to the Thermomix bowl. Insert the simmering basket. Place the eggs inside the simmering basket.
- Soft-boiled Eggs: Cook for 11 mins/Varoma/Speed 1.
- Hard-boiled eggs: Cook for 14 mins/Varoma/Speed 1. Remove immediately and place in a bowl of cold water before peeling.
- Please note that the above guidelines are based on cooking X-large, fridge-cold eggs. For smaller eggs, reduce the cooking time by a minute or two. Once you achieve the perfect egg to your liking, it's worth noting the size of the egg and the exact time it took to cook so you'll be good to go next time.
Notes
Store hard-boiled eggs in their shells in the fridge for up to a week.
When peeling eggs, I find that a bit of butter helps the shells slip off easily.
